This endowment was created and operates exclusively to fund a graduate fellowship with financial need in the Computer Science Department. As part of the donation, this fellowship was funded and named, Track Global, the Microsoft project the group once worked on by the group of donors.

The scholarship funds one-year, renewable scholarships for undergraduate students in good standing with a declared major in Computer Science. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better, and preference is given to students from Clallam County. Those students who demonstrate interest in CS through work-oriented use of computers or special projects may substitute for declared major in Computer Science.

This scholarship is established to undergraduate students who have financial need; and exhibit consistent, sincere interest in, and strong motivation toward, a degree in CS.

One or more full tuition scholarships, including fees and books, will be awarded to students majoring in CS, for their junior or senior years, on the basis of academic achievement. Preference is also given to those with financial need. The award is renewable for a second year if academic scholarship standards are maintained by the student.

Lars and Elaine provide this scholarship to encourage, support and reward students at WWU who are interested in pursuing a career with computers and to inspire students who have the potential to make an impact in this ever-changing field. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better with financial need. First generation applicants preferred.

One annual scholarship to an undergraduate CS major who has shown outstanding academic achievement.

Amount per Academic Year: $6,000

This scholarship provides support for graduate students in CS. Preference is made to students with outstanding academic merit, US citizens, and Washington State residents.

This scholarship honors Dr. Johnson’s lifelong passion for learning and his role in forming and shaping the CS Department at Western. The intention of this scholarship is to support the studies of future CS students, whether under-graduate or graduate, who share his passion and enthusiasm for learning, exploring and developing new ideas.

Amount per Academic Year: $8,000

To provide support for students in the Computer Science Department. Preference will be made to an applicant who is transferring to Western from a Community College with a first preference for Green River Community College or Highline Community College. If no students fit those two community college preferences, the backup preference is for a student from any King County Community College. When possible, a secondary preference will be made to a student who has financial need. This scholarship is renewable for as long as the student remains in good academic standing and remains in the computer science major.

The purpose of the Ugwoaba Scholarship for Computer Science (“Fund”) is to promote gender equity in computer science and provide support for students in the Computer Science Department.

The purpose of this fund is to provide a scholarship to an enrolled WWU student that draws upon lived experiences working and collaborating with Black and/or African American Organizations and Clubs at WWU. This scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is involved in the Black and/or African American community at Western and contributes to the community through their work, lived experience, studies or volunteerism in a way that enhances culturally centered programs, provides a sense of community, and/or furthers social justice for the Black and/or African American community. All students are encouraged to apply. When possible, preference to be made to students who are intercollegiate athletes.

Amount per Academic Year: Two $5,000 awards

The scholarship is for a student in the Computer Science Department and may be used to pay any costs related to educational expenses, including, but not limited to, tuition, books, materials, supplies, etc.  Preference will be made to applicants who demonstrate financial need.
