Tech Talks - Information for Employers/Presenters
What are Tech-Talks?
Tech-Talks are a great way to engage with WWU Computer Science students and begin creating a connection with our campus and your company! Tech-Talks currently do not have any firm scheduling, agenda, or requirement criteria. Typically, they are hour long presentation/talks with current CS students put on by a company representative or a recent CS Alumni. The goal of these talks can vary based on your needs, but often focus on company insights, or interview strategies. Tech-Talks
Tech-Talks at a glance:
- Hour long presentation put on by a representative of your company
- Usually a 40 minute presentation followed by questions/interaction
- Flexible for in-person only, online-only, and hybrid talks
- Hosted on WWU campus in the Communications Facility Building for in-person and hybrid setups
- No registration/setup cost for your company
- The department will cover guest parking passes for 1-2 cars per talk per day (carpooling greatly appreciated!)
- Typically take place during Fall Quarter where we see much better attendance and interaction, even when attempting to target upcoming graduates
- Tech-Talks are usually scheduled on Thursdays from 4pm-5pm PST as fewer classes are scheduled at those times
- Advertisement handled by the department, but customized flyers or company logos are greatly appreciated!
What we need to get started:
While largely without official structure, having some startup information can be great to kick off the process. To get started with a Tech-Talk or to find out more information, please email cs.dept@wwu.edu with questions or the following information:
- Business/Organization name or who you're representing
- Any icons/flyers/advertisement materials you'd like to provide
- Subjects or topics you'd like to cover
- Target audience you'd like to capture
- Any special considerations or setup you may need
Our program assistant will reach out to you with any followup questions or clarification, as well as to schedule a Tech-Talk time with you.
