Glosten, Inc. (equal opportunity employer) is looking for a talented individual to join the Production Engineering team as a Marine Systems Designer.

The ideal candidate should have experience with Cadmatic Outfit 3D modeling software.  This position requires creative problem solving, interpretation of technical drawings or specifications, and practical decision-making.  This person will work with a team of designers and engineers, will communicate with clients and shipyards, and will create 3D models and 2D production drawings.  The candidate will be fully versed in common vessel design and construction practices.  The ability to do system design is desired and an understanding of vessel structure design is beneficial. 

Glosten's Production Engineering group provides marine construction information and design to support construction of a wide variety of marine projects.  Join our team and apply your aptitude and software skills in support of shipyards, owners, and operators.  We use a number of 3D modeling tools to provide high value manufacturing and assembly information, and have many projects that are supported from concept through construction and beyond.

This position is NOT for graphic design or artistic rendering.  This is a technical modeling and design position that generates 3D models and 2D drawings for vessel production purposes.

Primary Responsibilities:

Create 3D models under direction using Cadmatic, AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, Rhino and other CAD programs
Annotate 2D production drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD
Work with a team to support large, long term projects.
Education and Training:

A 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word.
Desirable Experience:

Shipyard experience in any capacity
Construction experience, particularly with metal fabrication or pipe fitting
Drafting experience creating mechanical or production detail drawings

 

A good understanding of 3D CAD modeling and a willingness to learn new software is critical for this position. Our team depends on open communication, a collegial atmosphere, and a growth mindset. These traits are critical to a good fit on the Production Engineering team.  A self-starter with good organization will have the tools to succeed.  The Production Engineering team is constantly looking for ways to improve and this person must be willing to employ creative thinking and problem solving to tasks as well as internal processes.
