Cybersecurity
Mission Statement
The mission of the Computer Science Department is to provide the highest quality education in computer science; to perform research that advances the state-of-the-art in computer science; to produce graduates that are knowledgeable, articulate, principled, innovative, confident, and able to think critically; to be engaged in local, state, and national issues to the benefit of both the public and private sector; and to maintain a diverse college community.
Program Educational Objectives
Within five years of graduation, graduates of Cybersecurity will:
- Consider and apply solutions across the broad spectrum of the cybersecurity domain.
- Demonstrate solid technical depth within their chosen focus of cybersecurity.
- Exhibit thoughtful formal and informal leadership and management skills.
- Apply cybersecurity principles within an appropriate societal, business, and social context.
Student Outcomes
Graduates of the cybersecurity program will have an ability to:
- Analyze a complex cybersecurity problem and to apply principles of cybersecurity and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
- Design, implement, and evaluate a technical solution to meet a given set of security requirements.
- Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
- Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in cybersecurity practice based on legal and ethical principles.
- Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to cyber security.
- Apply security principles and practices across the broad range of the cybersecurity field to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats.
